Symbols
Symbols are used in all types of literature. Symbols are uses of objects, themes, people etc. The importance of them are for readers to analyze something to further understand the theme. The themes and symbols used in a tragic play will differ from those of a fiction novel just like character, setting and plot. In Pride and Prejudice and Hamlet a common theme was the family. The idea of a 'family' and how it operates was portrayed slightly different in each piece. The symbol of family was used in various ways. In Hamlet the family deals with complicated problems like a widow marrying her brother-in-law. The family in Pride and Prejudice is very different. With 5 daughters the family's idea of marriage is to find a wealthy man to marry. In Hamlet the class difference was a minor role in marriage, it never stopped Hamlet from marrying but was brought up among others.

Setting
Setting in any work of literature is the foundation for the story/play/poem. Authour's are able to create stories that take place during specific times to produce what they want. In Pride and Prejudice and Hamlet the authors use their modern settings for their works. In Hamlet the setting of old Kings and Queens is used and allows for the story of Hamlet. Setting is more then just a physical place, setting also includes the beliefs of that time period. In Hamlet the ghost was a very important role because when a ghost was shown then it was a much more influential role then. In Pride and Prejudice the setting included the social practices of its time period.
Character: Hamlet vs Elizabeth
Character varies between a tragic play and a novel. Character in a novel like Pride and Prejudice allows characters to be introduced in a variety of way wether its gossip, conversation or a narrator. On the other hand characters in a play are not introduced like ones in a novel. Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice changes though out the novel. Her changes is more for the social norm at the time. However she did change internally from not wanting to marry to wanting to marry. Hamlet's change through out the play is very internal. With the incentives from the ghost Hamlet was very independent with his change, however he effected others more then Elizabeth did.

Plot Blog
Polt is the backbone of any novel, play, movie or story. First is an exposition where everything is laid out. In Hamlet most of the background info will be know by the audience. In Pride and Prejudice the exposition takes place over the first few chapters, and is more open than Hamlet. The rising action leads a character to the climax. In a drama such as Hamlet the rising action is the constant set up to the event of act 5. These events all all staged as if they were on a play whereas in PnP the events were more drawn out and not every scene was as important as Hamlet. The falling action in a Drama varies from one in a fiction novel because of the ending of each. In Hamlet the ending was about death. In a fiction like Pride n Prejudice the opposite happens and everyone gets married and LIVES happily ever after. In Hamlet barley anyone lives.

essay comments
My essay was no re read by me. Next time I need to read it out loud or have someone else read it out loud beacuse I think it make sense while I am writing it. I liked going down my own path of a more free and open approach to the question which I argued in a very interesting way.

Intro
The idea of time is so powerful, it shapes and controls every aspect of our lives, yet cease to actually exist. Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero, seize the day, "Seize the Day, trusting as little as possible in the future". The expression is more commonly said as Carpe diem, however the second part is commonly left out. To the Virgins, to Make Much, by Robert Herrick and To His Coy Mistress, by Andrew Marvell both share the common theme of Carpe Demin. Both demonstrate how love is important with regards to Carpe Diem. The poems express the idea of how valuable time is through word choice, poetic devices, and the story of each poem.

Ozymandias
Percy Shelly's Ozymandias deals with the idea of time. Time is never mentioned in the poem but words such as "lifeless", "survive", "remains", "decay", all add to the imagery of the concept of carpe denim. "My name is Ozymandias, king of kings "Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" Nothing beside remains." The speaker, through a quote, is demonstrating how a kingdom once existed that no longer exist, and implies that the kingdom failed to live up to what it could of. Both poems acknowledge the importance of time, or at least imply it, and it it understood that we must live in the moment.
