The Love Song.

Thomas Sterns Eliot's 'The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock' is about an indecisive narrator whom has lost sense of himself and his values. He constantly questions himself by asking himself things such as "'Do I dare?' and 'Do I Dare?'". These questions reveal his own insecurity. His insecurity derives from his potential lover, whom he wants to force a relationship upon via sex.

  1. Eric this a great start for an essay addressing the theme of indecisiveness. My only suggestion would for you to elaborate more on indecisiveness and its effect on the speaker mental state and how that transitions into his reality

  2. I agree with benzi that this is a great beginning to a good essay topic. However, you do need to evaluate further into where his insecurities derived from. I do agree with you with his potential lover, but i also think it derived from his inability to act like a ordinary confident self-reliant man. Prufrock is constantly doubting himself in all of his decisions, which you clearly state in your quote. Otherwise, very nicely done EML.

  3. You have some good idea's and could go on to talk more about them you could make a really good paper. Keep going and talk a little more about what you think it means that he is insecure and you will have a good essay.
